San Bruno prides itself on their core values of integrity, protecting public resources, teamwork, community service, competent employees, friendliness and commitment to the community. San Bruno was originally a place for changing and watering horses between San Jose and San Francisco. San Bruno’s now popular Tanforan Shopping Center was once used for horseracing and home to the award-winning racehorse, Seabiscuit. Tanforan racetrack was also the site of where the first ever West Coast flight took off.
Between the 1940’s and 1960’s a housing boom in San Bruno occurred and the population grew vastly. San Bruno Park is the center of actives for events that take place in this neighborhood. A huge playground, tennis courts, baseball field, basketball court and pool attract many families to San Bruno Park. San Bruno hosts the Posy Parade, concerts, summer camps and several local sporting events.
